Luminosity to final over Liquid

Luminosity defeated Liquid 2-0 in the semi-finals at DreamHack ZOWIE Open Austin to advance to the grand final (16-6 on Dust2 and 16-14 on Train).

The second semi-final in Austin was between Luminosity and Liquid. The Brazilians finished their group in the first place after dominating Splyce and Cloud9, while Liquid came second in the other group after beating Selfless 2-0 in the decider match.

The series commenced on Dust2 with Luminosity on the CT-side. The Brazilian team were victorious in the pistol round and they got a 3-0 lead after winning the anti-ecos. The first weapon round was no different as Lincoln "⁠fnx⁠" Lau had a triple kill.

The sixth round was Liquid's first round win but they got reset after losing the following round (6-1). Kenneth "⁠koosta⁠" Suen bested Fernando "⁠fer⁠" Alvarenga in a 1vs1 in the tenth round to earn his team their second round and Liquid trailed 5-10 at halftime.

Luminosity secured the first four rounds of the second half and gained a 14-5 lead, setting themselves up for a potential map victory. Gabriel "⁠FalleN⁠" Toledo picked up the map with a 1vs2 clutch as Luminosity finished it 16-6.

The T-sided Liquid won the pistol round despite FalleN's triple kill and the Americans also grabbed the first weapon round with a quick A-site push. Things fell apart for Liquid as they lost an  anti-eco and Luminosity initiated a six round streak. The half ended 8-7 in favor of the Brazilians.

Although Liquid secured the pistol round in the second half, they once again fell to a force buy. The successful A-site execute by Luminosity in Liquid's next weapon round made the score 12-8 and the Brazilians went on to close it 16-14 despite Liquid's late push for a comeback.
